This move Elon Musk took has ended the story of price increase of Tesla vehicles between July 2021 and June 2022 due to unestablished globally supply chain as well as the raising production cost. It is also starting a war within EV industry, Elon and Tesla clearly want to be the forever number one in the market.

You may heard a lot of people say that now is the best time to secure a Tesla vehicle, but why?

1Tesla Price Cut and Government Subside

As above what we calculated together, Tesla just had a price drop that up to $4000. And a rebate will be offered to “clean” cars while the zero-emission car such as a Tesla will get a rebate of over $8600. You have saved a total of $126,00 cash which is a great amount.

Apart from the price drop and government support that saves you a ton of money that you should invest in a Tesla, there are also few other reasons that Tesla will help you to keep your wallet tight.

2Clean car discount is not only a discount, is also a fee

Another important reason when we talk about the timing of switch your car to a Tesla EV is about the "Clean Car Policy" that has been announced by the associated transport minister Julie Anne Genter back in 2019, which encourage importers to bring cleaner cars to forcing them to balance imports of high-emission and low-emission cars first then offer discount for those people who purchase a clean car.

Remember every penny the government spent is come from somewhere, of course people won't let the government use general taxation, hence the scheme is founded by charging extra fees on cars that "create pollution" which including all of us that have not switch into EV yet. The fees depends on whether the vehicle is new or used and its level of emissions. A new car may occur a fee as high as $5175. You may do not see it directly as it has been added when a car been first imported, but remember, wool comes from sheep and that's why motor industry has predict the price of used cars will rise 20 -25% under the clean car policy.

3Focus on your long-term savings

You may notice a number called "estimate 5-year fuel saving" listed on Tesla website, that indicates a saving of $111,00 to $14,000, is that true? Let's make some real calculations together Scenario one: My colleague A recently switch her Honda CRV to a Tesla Model Y, who lives 45km from work, and she also need to drop off and pick up her kid from school on daily bases, which makes up an 100km a round trip each working day. Plus, weekends trips and events, she drove 2500km during the last month, here is what she spent

She spent $134 for last 31 days which normally cost her $500 - $600 on petrol that saved her $425.

If we put her scenario into yearly, she could easily save up to $5,100 in one year and $25,500 in 5-year time.

Scenario two: Another colleague of mine, B had his Tesla Model Y for just a month now, here is what he spent during last 31 days.

He drove 1404km during the last month and only spent him $84 while general cost for a petrol car that running 1400km would cost about $300-$400. Saving $266 a month.

His one year saving from his Model Y would be $3192 while 5-year long term saving would be $15,960.

Final Thoughts

Apart from above savings we calculated together that makes the choice of buying a Tesla now is the best decision, there are also more to consider such as how our lifestyle impact our planet, boost usage of renewable energy sources, the flexibility of no need to go to petrol station anymore as well as so many other reasons.
